How Did God Use People to Write the Bible?

“All Scripture is breathed out by God.”
2 Timothy 3:16

If the Bible is God’s Word, a big question comes next.

How did God write it?

Did God hold a pen?
Did words fall from the sky?

No.

God chose to use people.

That might seem surprising at first, but it is actually one of the most amazing things about the Bible.

God used real people with real lives.

The writers of the Bible were not robots.

They had different jobs.
Different personalities.
Different ways of speaking.

Some were brave.
Some were fearful.
Some were young.
Some were old.

God did not erase who they were.

Instead, He worked through them.

Just like music played on different instruments can sound different but still be the same song, God used many people to tell one true message.

God guided what they wrote.

The Bible says that Scripture is “God breathed.”

That does not mean the writers were asleep or controlled.

It means God guided their thoughts so what they wrote was true.

They wrote in their own words, but God protected His message.

God made sure the story of who He is and what He has done was written correctly.

That way people could trust it.

The writers wrote what they saw and heard.

Some writers recorded history.
Some wrote letters to churches.
Some wrote songs of praise.
Some wrote warnings and promises.

Many of them wrote about events they personally experienced.

They were eyewitnesses.

They wrote what they saw God do.

God did not ask them to make things up.
He asked them to tell the truth.

God cares about truth.

The Bible is not a storybook full of pretend heroes.

It tells the truth about people.

It shows fear.
It shows doubt.
It shows mistakes.

Why would God include that?

Because the Bible is not about how good people are.

It is about how good God is.

God shows that He works through imperfect people.

That gives hope to us.

God still speaks today through His Word.

Even though the Bible was written long ago, God still uses it now.

When we read Scripture, God teaches us.
He corrects us.
He comforts us.
He helps us grow.

That does not mean we hear a voice.

It means God uses His Word to shape our hearts and guide our lives.

The Bible is not just information from the past.

It is God speaking to His people today.

So how did God write the Bible?

He used real people.
He guided their words.
He protected His truth.
And He still speaks through it today.

That is why the Bible is not just another book.

It is God’s Word given with love.

Think About It

• Why do you think God chose to use people instead of writing the Bible Himself?

• How does knowing the writers were real people help you trust the Bible more?

• What does it mean that God can work through imperfect people?

• When you read the Bible, what do you hope God will teach you?

• How might reading Scripture help you in your everyday life?
