“And this is eternal life, that they know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.”
—John 17:3
We were made to know God—not just to believe He exists, but to walk with Him, talk with Him, and find life in Him. This is not religion for religion’s sake. This is a relationship with the living God.
In a wrld full of distractions, doubts, and digital noise, you may find yourself wondering: How do I begin? Can I really know God? The answer is yes.
1. God Created You for Relationship
From the very beginning, humanity was designed for relationship with God. Genesis tells us that we were made in His image (Genesis 1:27), not to be distant creatures, but His sons and daughters. The ache for meaning, identity, and love? That’s a whisper from your soul reminding you of the One you were made for.
“You have made us for Yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in You.”
—Augustine
2. Sin Has Broken That Relationship
We live in a broken world, and we carry that brokenness in our own hearts. Sin—our rebellion, pride, and self-centeredness—has separated us from the God who loves us.
“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
—Romans 3:23
“The wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
—Romans 6:23
3. Jesus Came to Restore What Was Lost
God didn’t leave us in the dark. He came to us in the person of Jesus Christ. He lived the life we could not live and died the death we deserved—so that through Him, we might be reconciled to God.
“But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
—Romans 5:8
“For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that He might bring us to God.”
—1 Peter 3:18
4. This Is Not About Religion—It’s About Response
Jesus doesn’t ask you to earn His love. He offers it freely. What He asks is your heart. Your honesty. Your “yes.”
“Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in . . . ”
—Revelation 3:20
To begin a relationship with God, you don’t need perfect words. But you do need a willing heart.
A Simple Prayer of Trust
God, I don’t have all the answers, but I know I need You.
I believe that Jesus died for my sins and rose again.
I want to stop living for myself and start living for You.
I give You my past, my pain, my pride, and my doubts.
I trust You to forgive me, change me, and lead me.
From this moment on, I am Yours. Amen.
5. Next Steps: What Comes After “Yes”
Saying yes to Jesus is the beginning—not the end. Here are some next steps to help you grow:
• Read the Bible
Start with the Gospel of John to hear the words and works of Jesus firsthand. Then try:
- Romans 5 – God’s love in action
- Psalm 23 – God as Shepherd
- Ephesians 2 – Grace and identity in Christ
• Talk to God Every Day
Prayer isn’t a ritual—it’s a relationship. Speak to God honestly. You don’t need fancy words. Just tell Him what’s on your heart. Thank Him. Ask for help. Listen.
• Find a Church Community
Look for a Bible-believing church where Jesus is central and people walk together in faith. You don’t have to do this alone. Ask questions. Learn. Grow.
• Keep Asking Questions
Faith grows through curiosity. Doubts aren’t the enemy—silence is. Reach out with your questions. Read, explore, and keep seeking.
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.”
—James 4:8
You may still have uncertainties. That’s okay. God is not asking for your perfection—only your permission to lead you.
The door is open. He is waiting.
Say yes. And begin
