Why Science Does Not Replace God

“The heavens declare the glory of God.”
Psalm 19:1

Science is amazing.

It helps us understand how the world works.

Science studies stars, animals, weather, and the human body.

Bible Explorers love learning new things.

But sometimes people ask an important question.

If science explains so much, do we still need God?

The answer is yes.

Science explains how things work.

God explains why they exist.

Knowing how a bicycle works does not tell you who built it.

Knowing how your heart beats does not explain why life exists at all.

Science and faith ask different kinds of questions.

Science asks, “How does this happen?”

Faith asks, “Why is there something to study in the first place?”

Science cannot explain why the universe exists.

It cannot explain why laws of nature exist.

It cannot explain why life has meaning.

Those questions point beyond science.

Science depends on order.

Experiments work because the universe follows rules.

Those rules did not create themselves.

Order points to a Lawgiver.

Many scientists believe in God because studying creation makes them feel wonder.

They do not see science as replacing God.

They see it as exploring what God has made.

When Bible Explorers study science, we are not moving away from faith.

We are discovering more reasons to be amazed.

The more we learn, the more incredible creation becomes.

Science helps us see the details.

Faith helps us understand the meaning.

Together, they help us see the full picture.

God is not found at the end of science.

He is the reason science is possible at all.

Science does not replace God.

It reveals His creativity.

Think About It

• What kinds of things does science help us understand?

• What kinds of questions does science not answer?

• Why do you think order and laws exist in nature?

• How can learning science help us worship God?

• What part of creation amazes you the most?
